Transport of blind persons and their travel companions
Stations equipped with panels for the orientation of the blind are: Novi Sad, Subotica and Čačak. The Čačak station, next to the panel, as well as the Belgrade center station, are equipped with a base for the orientation of blind people.
The blind person and his/her travel companion (a person or a dog) must travel together (in the same passenger coach class). The blind person must have a proof of identity (and appropriate document) with the number entered on the train ticket of the travel companion (a person or a dog) and to be capable to prove his/her identity during the ticket control. The holder of a train ticket with a remark “Travel companion of blind person” written, who travels alone, will be considered a passenger without the valid train ticket.
The blind person and persons with muscular distrophy or related muscular and neuromuscular illness (plegia, cerebrovascular paralysis, paralysis in children and multiple sclerosis) benefit the discount of 75% of the regular ticket fare and according to the card entitling holder to obtain the tickets at reduced fare for the disabled person issued by the competent society of disabled persons in Serbia.
The travel companion of the blind or disabled person travels free of charge according to the notice which is the integral part of the card declaration entitling holder to obtain the tickets at reduced fare for blind persons i.e. disabled persons.
Carriage of persons in wheelchairs
The establishments in which the acceptance and forwarding of passengers with disabilities in wheel chairs is performed are Novi Sad and Subotica.
The transport of persons in wheelchairs is possible by trains i.e. in the coaches, if seats are available and if the trains operates with DMUs 711 and EMUs 413.
In DMUs 711 and EMUs 413, there is one seat per composition reserved for the transport of persons in wheel chairs.
The passenger, the person in wheel chair occupies the specified reserved seat in advance in the parts of the coach foreseen for thier transport.
To the persons in wheel chairs, within the transport service, are provided the following:
– access without stairs; special mobile elevators which are used for the lifting of the persons in wheel chairs for the entrance and exit in/from DMUs 711 and the same is provided with no need of the special mobile elevators in/from EMUs 413.
